Last month we highlighted our Relationships resources that support people with intellectual and other developmental disability to find meaningful relationships. We were especially excited to launch The Friendship Project with a full suite of videos and publications about making and keeping friends.
This month we spotlight DDWA's focus area web page on Behaviour, which provides information to help families build understanding and awareness around people with disability who can sometimes behave in challenging ways, so that we can all better respond. Here you'll find online learning as well as downloadable resource guides for families about supporting both adults and children who can behave in challenging ways. There are also several FAQs with informative answers from the DDWA team covering topics such as:
- How do I find a behaviour support practitioner?
- What is behaviour support & Why do we need it?
- What is challenging behaviour?
- and much more about behaviour support plans, management plans and supports.
Download these resources from our Behaviour web page:

Another highlight in this issue is the start of our series on “What issues members say are important”. Following our members' survey in June calling for feedback on our Issues Register, we will share what we learnt with a report on the progress of a different issue in each month's newsletter.
As always, this issue provides links to events and news for families, people with disability as well as organisation and disability sector professionals who are DDWA members.
